For those homes that still don’t have power, but your neighbors do, please take the time to investigate further. For example, take a look at the wires from GVEA’s power pole to your meter. (This is what is referred to as your “service drop.”) Are the wires still attached to the pipe above your meter? (This is what is referred to as your “service entrance.”)
If you can confirm you have damage, then you can get a jump on repairs by following these steps:
- Call GVEA to report your situation and to schedule a disconnect.
- Hire a qualified electrician to make the necessary repairs.
- Call GVEA to schedule a reconnect.
Note: One crew is now dedicated specifically to these types of situations as this outage continues to be worked.
