At its most recent meeting, the Goodcents Board of Trustees reviewed four applications and awarded three grants totaling up to $12,500. Here’s a breakdown of the awards:

  • $5,000 to North Star Ballet for building energy efficiency measures. The grant will be used to make improvements identified by Interior Weatherization and GVEA’s Energy$ense program. You may be familiar with the North Star Ballet as the group puts on the Nutcracker Ballet every year around this time.
  • $5,000 to the Retirement Community of Fairbanks for a conference room that will double as a computer room.
  • $2,500 to an individual for home heating system repairs. (A family member was injured in a hit and run automobile accident and medical bills exhausted all family savings.)

Good¢ents is funded by the members of Golden Valley Electric Association. All monies from the foundation are awarded locally to non-profit organizations and individuals in need. For more information about the Good¢ents program and applications, please visit www.gvea.com/goodcents.
