GVEA’s 2020 Board Election Results

  • District 1: Incumbent David Messier was reelected over challenger Aren Gunderson. Of the 6,405 ballots mailed, 1,272 valid ballots were cast, which constitutes a 20% return. Here’s the breakdown:
    • Aren Gunderson: 456 votes / 36%
    • David Messier: 814 votes / 64%
  • District 2: Tom DeLong, incumbent, was reelected over challengers Savanah Fletcher and Heidi Titchenal. Of the 6,346 ballots mailed, 1,277 valid ballots were cast, which constitutes a 20% return. Here’s the breakdown:
    • Tom DeLong: 688 votes / 54%
    • Savanah Fletcher: 403 votes / 32%
    • Heidi Titchenal: 183 votes / 14%
  • District 3: This was an open seat with no incumbent running, and Rick Solie won over Alison Carter. Of the 6,485 ballots mailed, 1,205 valid ballots were cast, which constitutes a 19% return. Here’s the breakdown:
    • Alison Carter: 563 votes / 47%
    • Rick Solie: 638 votes / 53%

Of the valid ballots cast, 66% were paper ballots and 34% were online ballots. GVEA’s bylaws state that a minimum of 10% return of valid ballots of the total membership of each voting district is required. Next year, directors for District 4 (Gary Newman) and District 7 (Bill Nordmark) will be up for election.
